چکیده
High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is one of the promising non-invasive focal thera-pies. The utilization of this technology in different therapeutic applications has increased dramatically. Among them is HIFU for focal cancer therapy. The main objective of the pre-sent study is to develop a simulation model capable of modeling the propagation of the HIFU acoustic waves in the human eye for an ex-vivo experiment. Different parts of the eye and their mechanical properties were considered in the model with the aim of capturing waves’ propagation accurately. Results showed that increasing the frequency of the transducer, makes the focal region finer. It was found that with moderate frequencies (i.e. higher than 10 MHz) fine enough resolution could be achieved which would be enough to ablate cancerous tissues located between retina and sclera. A displacement between the measured focal point and the geometrical point was also observed in all frequencies.
