Investigation on the Time Response and Natural Frequencies of Cantilever Plates under Rotating Condition

The eigenvalue problem for the natural frequencies and the time response of a rotating cantilever orthotropic plate is investigated by employing the extended Galerkin method and extended Kantorovich method. The accuracy and efficiency of the results are established by comparison of two methods which show good agreement. The effects of the choice of trial functions and different number of mode shapes have been presented. Also, the influence of dimensionless parameters such as the hub radius ratio, stagger angle, etc. on the modal characteristics of rotating plats is examined. Numerical results show that the centrifugal stiffening rate of the plate in different stiffness ratios is affected by rotational speed and that rate is depended on hub radius ratio and stagger angle.
